This was my 3rd summit of Mt Tallac and the second from the main trail.

The self-registration kiosk at the trailhead (with some lupine off to the right). The Desolation Wilderness is one of the few places that require registration for dayhikers.

The ridge soon climbed above Fallen Leaf Lake. It (and Lake Tahoe beyond) were visible off to the left.
