About 6mi round trip with 1500ft gain today. Left from Lake Mead Blvd- same trailhead as the Frenchman Mountain outing last week.

Random Trivia: Despite the official namings, most of the locals refer to Frenchman- not Sunrose as "Sunrise Mountain".

Heading north from Lake Mead Blvd. There was a ranch road leading up to the right and I took that and ended up on the ridge on the far right- when I actually wanted to head for the pass directly to the left)

Gratified sign at the trailhead. This area apparently gets used as a dump by the locals.

The road dead ended up near the ridgeline and I scouted around looking for a path northward.

The view back down to Lake Mead Blvd. Frenchman Mountain (or actually the Frenchman ridge- the Frenchman summit isn't visible from here) loomed to the South. The Vegas strip can be seen off to the left.

From the ridgetop I spotted this use trail leading north in the canyon beyond. With that destination in mind I backtracked and descended into the canyon to the west.

The use trail contoured the bottom of a northbound wash and soon gave me my first view of Sunrise Mountain. I wasn't completely sure how I was going to gain the ridge and planned on making that call as I got closer.

Down to the valley floor. From a distance this appeared to be flat ground but turned out to be a tedious maze of gullies.
