A little over 11 miles and 2500 ft gain starting at the 7100ft Spooner Summit TRT trailhead along Hwy 50. This was my 2nd trip along this route- the 1st (with more pics) can be found here

Full parking lot at the northern TRT trailhead right on Spooner Summit on HWY 50. Noon start today.

No mountain bikes on this section of TRT- hikers and equestrians only. That sign slightly overstates the distance to the peak- its closer to 5 1/2 mile

Not much to say about most of the route- its forested, sandy, mostly viewless, and steadily uphill for the 1st 4 miles or so.

Continuing northward and upward through the increasingly sparse forest.

The trail eventually hit the ridgetop.

The only trailsign along the trail today, about 4 miles from the trailhead.

The view finally opened up for a bit with this view south of Duane Bliss (left) Genoa (center) and the Freel complex (horizon) with Hwy 50 winding through spooner summit below.

View over to Tallac and the Desolation Wilderness, where there still is a whole lot of snow.
