Topo and GPS tracks for today's 9mi, 3000ft gain outing to tag Red Lake and Stevens Peaks from Carson pass. Route was counterclockwise around the loop.

Red Lake and Stevens are my 17th and 18th OGUL peaks.

The Carson Pass northbound PCT trailhead. Not a terribly straight job of parking there. Outback still dirty from the ranch roads out to Siegel on Friday.

Heading north on the PCT. The PCT started meandering west and I opted to leave it almost immediately to start the northward ridge traverse.

Looking across Carson Pass/Hwy 88 toward Elephants Back

Continuing north, up out of the initial rocky section and onto the ridge.

Looking back down the hill. The PCT heads toward Meiss Meadow in the center. Caples Lake is in the distance.

I ended up scaling the pass in the middle of this ridge. Might have been easier to head left, but there was a substantial wind blowing across the ridge and the pass was somewhat sheltered.

Red Lake wasn't terribly red. More of a muddy greenish color.
