North to South ~15 mil round trip route from the Columbine Campground.

Small Toiyabe Crest Trail parking lot a bit before the Columbine Campground. Got a bit of a late start this morning.

The southern Toiyabe Crest Trail trailhead. The trail is also reachable via a spur trail from the campground and one is probably better off skipping this steep early section and leaving from the campground itself.

The trail headed immediately into the aspens. All of the aspens would be naked today, this route probably would have been quite picturesque a month or so earlier.

Arc Dome wilderness sign near the junction with the spur trail down to the campground. There was a single party camped at the campground and I would see them on the trail near the end of the day.

A short distance up the canyon, the Stewart Creek trail turned left. I had originally planned on doing a large loop, but ended up going up and back the Stewart Creek trail.

One of two minor creek crossings on the trail. Just a bit of ice as the nighttime temps were hovering around freezing down here off the mountain.

Continuing upcanyon the trail alternated between aspen groves and sagebrush fields. This junction with the Big Sawyer creek trail caused me a bit of confusion in the dark on the return trip and I wandered about for a bit before finding the trail south again
